Having grown up in the nurturing context of musical families, the artists are now passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians and audiences. The Jupiter is its own musical family, literally, as one violinist and the violist are sisters, and the cellist is their husband and brother-in-law.
An entourage that often includes children and grand-parents further emphasizes the family feeling that intensifies musical communication among the players.
In residence for three years at Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Two, the Jupiters have been Artists-in-Residence at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana since 2012. True to its name, the ensemble favors a vast and varied repertoire that spreads across the heavens from Beethoven (they have per- formed the complete cycle of his quartets at several festivals) to the latest contemporary works specially commissioned for them.
